But thankfully we’re in different age groups

By , December 12, 2012 6:16 am

Yay, it is that time of year where many of my posts are inspired by gifts! How clever I am… not! Ha ha. Still to come – a post about my mom’s early birthday gift for Steven.

Erin and I exchanged gifts last night and she made me this thoughtful book containing photos of some of our shenanigans.

The text in it was just perfect! Erin is such a clever writer.

I may or may not have teared up a bit when I opened this and read it. It may or may not have been the bottle of wine we shared. Ha ha. No really, the book was that perfect. I think I would have teared up sans alcohol.

I am definitely going to keep this somewhere where I can see it often (maybe next to my BibFolio?), so I can flip through it when I need a smile.

Has anyone ever given you a personalized photo book? Have you ever made one for someone?

I made one for my sister after my wedding, but I think this is the first one I’ve ever received! Flipping through it, and seeing all the pictures of our running adventures made me miss that special time Erin and I used to have together on long runs when we were training for the Milwaukee Marathon. We’ve only done one race together this year, compared to our normal four zillion. I hope we make that change in 2013 – at least the training together part!

Hands down one of the best gifts ever!

I haven’t received a photo book, but I make them on blurb for my friends and family. I remember the first one I sent to my Daad… He freaked out. He was amazed at the whole concept of it! I made one for L out of our photos from route 66, and a book of just photos of us- I believe he shed a few tears when he opened those 😉 shhh don’t tell any one. Hehe

  2. How sweeet!! I love that line she wrote!

Personalized photo books mean so much to me. I made one for a friend of mine spanning our 4 years together at university for her birthday once!
She also personalized a huge picture frame of collages of us for me before too. I’m so sentimental, so it’s so special to me!

    What a GREAT gift!!!
We make a family photo book every year to document all the fun things we did that year. 🙂

That book is awesome! You guys have some awesome photos together.
I made a wedding book and a honeymoon book for myself. ha! I have never given a photo book as a gift though. I only made the honeymoon book because it was free and the wedding book got made immediately because I bought an online deal for it and it had an expire date.

Ugh, I really need to make a wedding one. Or something. Right now we don’t have many of those photos displayed (well, in digital frames and in our large folding frame).

Love it! The time and thoughtfulness it takes to make one of those books is almost as great as the book itself!

I made one for my friend after our trip to Ireland and I just finished making photobooks for the Grandparents. I never received one, though!

  6. Awww… that’s sweet! My brother and I did personalized books for my parents the last two years. I think they’ve come to expect it now, so I hope they’re not too disappointed we’re not doing it this year. The bro dropped the ball when it came to sneaking good pics off of their camera when he was home for Thanksgiving. Blasted!

I love this! What a perfect present 🙂

The only photobook I ever made was one of our Disney trip. Then the kids looked at it so much that the pages started to tear out, haha! I DO make photo desk calendars as pretty standard Christmas gifts. Gotta get on that…

  8. That’s an awesome gift!

I have a wedding album, and albums for the girls 1st year.

That is such a sweet gift! When I graduated from high school my dad created a photo book of the day. I really enjoyed it and sometimes still look at it.

Awww, that’s so cool! A friend made me a scrapbook for Christmas several years ago – it chronicled the surprise party she and a few other friends threw for my 25th birthday, and it was one of the coolest gifts I’ve ever received. I think anything personal and homemade(ish) like that is a really great gift.

  11. That is such a thoughtful gift! I think personalized gifts that really speak to the person getting the gift are so rare these days. What a treat!

I’ve been struggling with what to do with the THOUSANDS of photos we’ve taken since Gavin was born. I finally decided to work on a family photo album of his first year. It is 200 pages and turned out so nicely that we wound up ordering extra copies for the grandparents. I have organized which photos I want to include for Gavin’s second year photo album, but haven’t yet gotten to work on it. Hopefully I’ll have it done before it’s time for his third birthday. ha.

  12. I had so much fun making that book and I’m really happy you like it 🙂 I love that you take so many photos, too 🙂 Makes it easier to find good ones to use 🙂

That personalized photo album is so Erin – incredibly considerate and thoughtful and classy!

(And you are not always in different age groups, right? LOL)

We are on a cycle where we share the same age group for 5.5 months at a time 😉 Next cycle is July 31, 2014 – Jan 11, 2015 😉

  18. That is such a sweet gift! I love it.

I made my mom a similar book for one of her milestone birthdays (you know, the ones that end in -0 that she doesn’t want anyone to know about). It took me forever to scan all the photos, but she really liked it.

What a great present! I’ve never made or received a photo book.

That’s so awesome!! What a thoughful gift! I’ve never made or received one either, but have thought about making one. Maybe someday if I have time 🙂

You guys really can jump high! 🙂

  22. What a sweet gift!! 🙂 I made wedding scrapbooks for my mom and mother in law the year after our wedding. I had a lot of fun making them and I think they enjoyed them. I received a scrapbook for one of my bridal showers and I thought it was really nice.

SUCH A GOOD IDEA! I should totally do that for my running buddy!
