Random Thoughts Thursday 89

  • Yay! My snister and her husband booked flights to come out here in late April! I am stoked to see them and show them the house! And have my snister give me her interior design advice (I only pretend to be an interior designer – that is actually what my snis went to school for). Counting down the days!
  • My snis is in Arizona for work (schweet) and gets to go to TWO Royals Spring Training games (SCHWEEEET!!!). I hope Steven and I get to go to some Royals games this year – we’re ready!

Our jerseys were Christmas presents from Steven’s dad!

  • My bathtub is here!!! Isn’t it beautiful? Ha ha. I am not sure when it’s going to be installed/when the bathroom renovation will happen. Our contractor is still pending permit approval. I hope SOOOOOON! I miss my epsom salt soaks!

  • We had our fire place inspected and chimney cleaned out on Tuesday. It’s looking good, um, minus the fact that we don’t have a chimney cap? Oops? That would explain why the starter is a bit rusty. And why there was an empty bird nest inside. We’ll get a cap and all the equipment so we can use it next season. I am looking forward to that! I bet Data will LOVE it!

  • Add this to the list of things we didn’t realize was missing from our house – a mailbox. Another OOPS. We put our mail on hold the Tuesday after moving in but it was too late – the post office had already rejected a card my snister sent to welcome us to the new house. Sad. Luckily, it went back to her (and she resent to us). Steven and I tried to install a mailbox on one of the warmer weather days and it did not go well. Now is not the time of year to install a mailbox on your own. It just isn’t. We hired someone to put one in and it should be installed soon. I am excited to stop making trips every other day to the post office to get my mail (and I’d love to stop getting all that fake “URGENT MORTGAGE INFORMATION” mail – don’t even get me started on how much it all pisses me off).

ALL SO URGENT AND IMPORTANT! You know, insurance offers, offers to sell me a copy of the deed to my house…

  • Apparently Data didn’t know moving to Zion included country cat duties… we had a mouse get to some of our food and Data did NOTHING about it! So disappointed. Ha ha.

It seems like you can just pick up your mail while you’re out on your daily Menards trips 🙂

The new tub looks awesome! I can’t wait to have a real house with a real tub, not the small, crappy rental tubs I’ve had for years (maybe that’s why I don’t love baths?). Hope you can get it installed soon!

Do you want Heidi to come over and bark at mice? That probably won’t do much, but she’s willing anyway.

If only any of the big box hardware stores we went to were actually near the post office 🙂 They aren’t! Mostly small stores in downtown Zion, plus Jewel.

Ahh, that could be why you don’t like them! I am super excited to soak in this tub!!!

      LOL! It could help!

I love that purple hat you have on in the photo in front of the fire place! Did you make it? Poor Data just needs time to learn the new duties 🙂

    • kilax says:

Thank you 🙂 I bought it at a jewelry and accessories expo years ago, but I have seen knitted hates like it!

Data does! Get to it, cat!

I don’t often take baths, but did last night! A wonderful long epsom salt soak! It felt so good. Hope your bathroom remodel happens quick.

    • kilax says:

AHHHHH, that sounds amazing! Tell me more! Ha ha ha!

I am thisclose to asking my friend who lives nearby if I can come soak in her tub. That wouldn’t be weird… right?!

  4. My dog was a rat terrier, and despite his name and its obvious implication that he would be ALL about chasing and/or killing mice, never once in 15 years did he kill any rodents. Well, he did *almost* kill a squirrel once, which I guess is technically a rodent, but that doesn’t really count (plus he didn’t actually kill it, just probably gave it PTSD.). Slacker animals not doing their job! 😛

Data has a nice window seat there 🙂
Junk mail completely irritates me! The piles of waste kill me.

    • kilax says:

Yes – it makes me so angry, too. All that wasted paper, and then there may be people who don’t realize it’s junk mail and take it seriously 🙁

  6. Erin says:

When my mom ran over their mailbox (yeah, she’s still embarrassed about it) they resorted to setting the mailbox on its end just on the ground until they were able to get it reinstalled. Otherwise, yeah, the post office won’t deliver your mail!

I’ve lived in two houses that had the mailbox on the house instead of on a post on the street. Those are much easier to install 🙂

    • kilax says:

Eh, it happens! She doesn’t need to feel bad!

I wonder if I would have put a brand new box out like that, if they would deliver the mail. Ha! It would be nice to have a house box! Our house is so far off the street though.

OMG that pic of Data is great 🙂

  8. martymankins says:

Mailbox is quite important… he he.

Data needs to have his cat card taken away. Our Tabby would have been on that mouse so fast. She catches them all the time in the canal behind our home and brings them to us.
