Random Thoughts Thursday 94

  • I had a great time seeing my mom last Friday and Saturday night but MAN staying out late (her conference was an hour drive (one way) away) wrecked me for Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. I am an early riser and am not used to that! Totally worth it, though.

  • My mom met someone at her conference that lives really close to where we are going in Alaska in June. I asked that woman if she knew any runners that could run with me while I am there, since my family is convinced a bear is going to attack me when I am running (and maybe a local can help with that? ha). The lady said she does know some runners, so I friended her on Facebook and plan to make some dates for our trip!
  • We had chimney caps installed last week. Yay! I like the way they look, AND this will keep things out of the chimney. Win win. Ha.

  • Peoples visited again early (4:00 am) Saturday morning. It’s cute when he visits the balcony – he runs back and forth on the railing and Data follows him. Then he comes down on to the balcony and runs around… and Data follows him some more. Aww, besties! On Saturday night/early Sunday am, we also heard some interesting noises outside that may have been Peoples… some animal decided the bottom of the downspout needed to be taken off and dragged across the driveway. That was a creepy noise to hear in the middle of the night!

  • My second cousin has recently fallen in love with Asics shoes and tipped me off that Kohl’s had the Cumuluses for $60! What a deal! I used a 20% coupon, and with free shipping, they were just under $50 a pair. Yay! I am happy I didn’t wait for a 30% off – I checked the day after ordering them and all the size 12s were gone!

Running shoes for under $50? That’s a great deal! Alaska sounds like a great trip and yay for potential running partners while there 🙂

  2. Rachel says:

Are you and your mom fighting over who gets to trow away the baskets at El Famous!?!?

I love that Data has a friend and isn’t upset by Peoples stopping by, (like he is with Denali!) but that is super creepy about the downspout! Kev would have freaked out if he heard a sound like that in the middle of the night.

    • kilax says:

Ha ha! So… this El Famous did NOT have the trow sign! Can you believe it?! IS IT EVEN LEGIT?!

I love that Data and him are buds too.

Ugh, it was creepy! When we woke up I told Steven “I am sure there is some logical explanation we will see in the morning…” and tried not to think about it!!!

My parents’ cat has ground squirrel friends. He chases them whenever they run across the back patio, and sometimes bonks his head on the window.

What a deal on those shoes! I never would have thought of Kohl’s selling running shoes, since I only go there to buy jeans. Gonna have to start looking a little more closely at the shoe aisle!

  5. Anne says:

Yay new shoes! My trail shoes usually run for about $40-$45 on Amazon (though I think I’m a model behind, because I totally care about that). But my road shoes are tougher to find on sale because I wear a 10.5, which is apparently the weirdest size out there (probably not, but it’s hard to find!)

I’m glad to hear you’ll be protected from bears on your runs in Alaska!

    • kilax says:

Yay! That is a great price! I didn’t know 10.5 was an odd size! I hope you come across a great deal on them! Do you use shoekicker?

Let’s hope these locals can protect me. Ha!

  6. Wow nice deal on the shoes! I totally would have stocked up and got two pair for the price of one!

This is the first time I’ve seen a pic of the front of your house, and that is such a cool and unique design. Chimney caps…this is why I can never be a homeowner. It would just never occur to me to do things like get caps for my chimneys. Cue *the more you know* jingle.

    • kilax says:

Aww, thanks! Ha ha, I didn’t realize either. There is a lot to know when you own a house and we are definitely learning as we go! 🙂

I love that Data has a bandit friend! I think raccoons are so cute (their wittle paws slay me), but I’m still kinda pissed at the one who climbed a tree, crawled out to our birdfeeder that was painted like our old house, and made the thing crash to the ground and splinter into a bunch of pieces. But when I looked outside to see what made that noise (in the middle of the night), there he was, on the ground, scooping up the spilled birdseed with his wittle paws. So cute!

Those are the exact same shoes I just got!!! I love them! So comfy! Maybe I should get a back-up pair since they’re so cheap!

Your mention of your mom at a conference reminded me of your trip here to SLC 3 years ago. Sounds like that Alaska trip will be nice.

And who can’t turn down a great deal and 20% off on new Asics.

    • kilax says:

It was the same conference, this time! It was so great to see you a few times in SLC! And you totally saved my ass at that race! Ha! I tell that story a lot!!!

      RIGHT?!

  10. Mica says:

I must have missed the post where Peoples was named. What a great name!! Man, chimney caps…yet another thing I would never know about if not for your documentation of home ownership. (But how will Santa get down the chimney now???)

I also missed/forgot you were going to Alaska in June. How exciting!!

    • kilax says:

I didn’t know, either! It’s funny, when I was showing Luca pics of the house he asked if that is how Santa gets down. I guess Santa just removes them?!

      Yeah! We’re excited! 🙂
