Make today magnet worthy

By , May 9, 2018 7:30 am

In a bit of cheesiness Saturday morning as Rachel and I were getting ready to leave the house to go to the race, I pointed to a magnet (of this photo) on our fridge from the 2016 race and said “Maybe today will be magnet worthy!”

“It will be!” she said. “Make today magnet worthy!”

And it totally was a magnet worthy day! Ha, and luckily, Shitterfly (purposeful misspelling) has a free magnet offer today so I can order it tonight! Woot!

Even though my PR wasn’t huge (less than two minutes), it feels amazing to know my training actually resulted in something. And that I didn’t give up on my goal when it got tough in the end.

I don’t run for PRs. I run because I love it and I need it for stress relief. But I haven’t had a PR in so long that I forgot how exciting they are! How accomplished and encouraged they make you feel! I CAN DO ANYTHING!

So, yeah… still riding that high. Ha.

Good lord, I am cheesy. I forgot I said that! hahah.

Your PR was HUGE! Under 1:50? 2 Minutes off a long standing half PR? Um, that’s HUGE!!

I love that you’re as cheesy as me :-*

Thank you!!! Gosh, it feels so good to say goodbye to that old PR!

Oh man, I’m glad the race was still magnet-worthy even though I wasn’t there to recreate that photo from 2016. What if there was some sort of balance to be maintained?! I kid. πŸ™‚ (and also, I’m honored to be on your fridge AND happy that you’re so thoughtful to have sent me a couple magnets of my own!)

And come on, 2 minutes is a BIG PR!!!!! You should be riding that high for a while! You busted your ass training and it paid off!

I am sad you weren’t there! The magnet I am making does have three people in it though πŸ˜‰ I am glad you like being on my fridge and like the magnets I’ve sent you! πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

      Thanks! πŸ™‚

    • Rachel says:

We need to find a time to recreate the photo!

Congrats on the amazing PR!! 2 minutes in the half is fantastic!
Also, in case you were on the edge of your seat – I PRed my 10k last weekend by 30 seconds! My old one was from 2007. I’m STILL riding that high!

I’m just sitting over here, laughing my head off at your intentional misspelling. Truly, I am a 12 year old at heart.

    • kilax says:

Ha ha ha. Yeah, Snis and I call them that, cause of their shitty shipping rates and bizarro coupon combos and other strange stuff πŸ˜‰

  5. kathy says:

That is an amazing number of magnets! Also love the cat pen holder!

  6. Aww, I think that’s adorable πŸ™‚ I’m glad Saturday was indeed magnet-worthy and that you can get a free one today!

Also, I don’t think I’ve ever used Shutterfly so I can’t make a comparison, but if you’re looking for a new magnet supplier, I had a FANTASTIC experience with Social Print Studio a year ago or so. I was super impressed with the entire process from start to finish and highly recommend them πŸ™‚ I also don’t remember their pricing being unreasonable…? I can’t imagine I would’ve used them if it was, haha.

    • kilax says:

Yay, one vote for adorable and NOT cheesy!!! Woot! πŸ™‚

Oh, thanks for the rec, I will check them out. The only way to get magnets from Shitterly is when they are free then the shipping is ridic ($3 per magnet?! COME ON). Ha.

Yes we run because we love it, but that arbitrary PR goal helps push us a little bit out of our comfort zones which is a good thing. Besides the extra fitness gained, I probably would never read books on nutrition, fitness, and anatomy(!) if it weren’t for trying to eke out a little more speed and endurance for my PR attempts. This in turn has helped me feel better, and who knows, may help me live longer (hopefully)! Congrats again on your PR. Savor it!

    • kilax says:

Yeah, it’s good to be outside than zone and realize it’s not bad. That’s how I felt with tempos – I discovered I LOVE them and they don’t kill my stomach like intervals do!

I like your viewpoint – it can make you a healthier, more educated person (I love reading about the sport and am currently reading Daniels’ Running Formula – what are you reading?)!

      Thank you!!! πŸ™‚

I’m so glad you had a “magnet-worthy” day and that a good day sustains you for so long. That’s awesome!

I love the magnet you gave me of us in front of the giant statue at the peer-mid house. <3

    • kilax says:

Thank you! I am glad for it too! πŸ™‚

Aww, yay!!! I hope we get to have a magnet worthy moment together this year. Although that sounds odd, writing it out. Ha.
