Random Thoughts Thursday 192

  • Thanks for all of your kind and thoughtful comments on my post yesterday about Data. They really made me feel better, and supported!
  • I’m going to keep posting silly posts like Random Thoughts Thursday as long as I feel like it – a lighthearted distraction is good for me.
  • Our library was closed for a week, and it seems like all the books I’ve had on hold for several months came in during that time. Eek. I’m still trying to finish A Lady’s Guide to Selling Out!

  • We saw Mission: Impossible – Fallout, and I really liked it (and figured I would!). I knew this was a movie I wanted to see in the theater from the time I saw the first trailer. The end was so suspenseful, I kept wanting to bite my nails (but didn’t since I have a no chip, ha. Instead, I just kept tapping them together). I knew I should have worn some bracelets so I had something to twirl when the movie made me feel anxious!
  • We shared baby pictures at work yesterday, and guessed who everyone was. A few of us younger people on the staff were saying we should have made ours black and white to throw people off. Ha. Ha ha ha. It was fun to see whose was SO obvious, and which ones weren’t!

  • Apollo got to try being outside on the harness yesterday, for the first time. He was definitely freaked out – he had his tail low between his legs! He eventually chilled a bit.

  • And, I have to share this picture of Steven’s lunch companions yesterday. What a bunch of troublemakers.

  • Yesterday someone at work told me that an email I sent was the best part of their day because it was so concise and clear, and had everything he needed in it. And that he was going to send it to someone else as an example. Hearing that made MY day, especially as it was for something where I don’t feel like I know what I am doing (project management).

Ha! Steven’s lunch companions look a lot like my usual lunch companion. Who can eat without an audience?!

Did you do the baby picture for a baby shower or anything like that, or just for fun? My work bestie is pregnant so we’re trying to come up with a virtual baby shower, and that game was one of my ideas. It’s fun to see those pictures!

What’s the fun in eating without eyes on you?!

We did it just for fun! A few weeks ago we were talking about a favorite clothing item my coworker wore back in the 70s (?) and she showed us a pic and I suggested we all bring in baby pics for fun! I think that virtual game will be fun!!!! What other games are you thinking? Can’t make it too “google-able” since it’s virtual, ha!

  2. Isn’t it crazy how some people look SO much like their baby selves, while others don’t like anything like their baby selves?? When I see pictures of my mom when she was like six or younger, I absolutely cannot believe she grew up to be my mom. She looks NOTHING like her grown up self (once she got to high school she started to look like her grown up self). But my brother has basically always looked the same! So interesting! I can definitely tell the first baby picture is you–your face still looks the same when you smile, I think–but if I only saw the second picture, I don’t think I would’ve guessed it was you!

HAHAHA that lunch companion picture! I love how Apollo (I think?) has his paw on the plate. It’s like he’s like, “Give me the food, do not make eye contact, and no one gets hurt.” Hahahaha

Yes! I think it’s so interesting! Some we could guess right away and some puzzled us! I wonder if your mom’s siblings (if she has any!) had something similar – not looking like their adults selves until they were older. How about you?

LOL, yep, that is Apollo, Mr. Troublemaker himself!

      • Personally, I don’t think I started to look like me until I was eight or nine and started growing in more of my adult teeth, which I think is due to all the orthodontia that was involved with that process. It really spread out my teeth (so there was room for all of them) and I think changed the overall look of my face. Although I also got glasses around that time, so that could also impact why I think I started looking different at about that age than I did when I was younger!

    Such healthy kittens 🙂

Good for you (with the email)!!!

  4. Chaitali says:

That’s a great compliment about the email at work 🙂

  5. Dave2 says:

Such an adorable kitty! I wish I would have thought to get my cats on a leash when they were little. But they were so terrified of everything from being feral, that I never did. Just getting near them was tough.

    • kilax says:

Thanks! Do you think they could learn as adults? We taught Data as an adult. It took him one warm season to get used to it (and not act like a limp noodle).

      • Dave2 says:

Doubtful. Despite years in a safe environment, they are still crazy-skittish. Even the sight of somebody they don’t know will send them running scared.

  6. Amy says:

Hooray for clear and concise! That is one of the things I enjoy about your blog – it is well written!

    • kilax says:

Aww, thank you so much! I try to edit out unnecessary words and repetitive sentences! I am glad it’s coming across that way 🙂

  7. Kandi says:

I love Apollo on a leash. My BFF has been taking her cat hiking and she used a cat hiking hashtag on Instagram and you should definitely search for it! 🙂

  8. Mica says:

Did people guess your baby picture? I can tell it’s you, but I already knew in advance. That reminds me–we did this for my 8th grade “graduation,” and I was the only Asian student, so…that was pretty obvious.

I loved “MI” too and knew I’d be into it. (I always forget how goofy they are.) I also loved catching glimpses of Paris.

    • kilax says:

They did! Ha! My mom was telling me how they did something similar at work and they had one African American lady and she was joking about how hard hers would be to guess.

I love that they are half goofy and half serious – I like that mix for action! Do you guys have any future Paris travel plans?
