Random Thoughts Thursday 100

  • Whoa! One hundred Random Thoughts Thursdays! I wrote the first one on July 14, 2011. I don’t write them every week, but have been on a kick with them for awhile. It’s a nice way to share little thoughts that don’t warrant a full post.
  • Gah, Data is still being a turd. Steven text me on Monday to tell me Data snuck out again. Then Monday night, Data decided he didn’t get enough popcorn, and had to get some on his own. Ha ha.

(It’s not a spanking to hurt him – just a gentle tap to remind him who’s in charge.)

SO HUNGRY. (It cracks me up so much that Data doesn’t like any human foods… except popcorn.)

  • My brain is so fried from my work training. But I did learn a lot, and actually enjoyed it! I liked that the class was math based, and the group activities were solving numerical problems, rather than setting up project plans, flow charts, etc. I like that it was logic based and there was basically one right answer.
  • I switched out my Chicago Marathon shadow box for Dallas! I am anxious to hang it up now! I think I will put it, and one of my medal racks above my desk.

  • Has anyone every had this weird message pop up on their iPhone – “you must change your iPhone unlock passcode within x minutes”? It showed up for me and kept popping up each minute. I didn’t find a reason online as to why this is happening (there were theories about exchange servers and VPNs but that did not apply to me) but I did try someone’s suggestion to clear my Safari cache/history and do a hard reboot and that seemed to do the trick! Other people said they did change the password and it forced them to do six digit passcode (which I think you can change back to four digits in the settings)? So strange.

    OMG Dates!!! What a stinker!!

The shadow box is really nice 🙂 What a great way to display memories from a race.

The password iPhone thing popped up on mine a few months ago- just change your passcode. It’s a legit security thing from Apple and not some phishing thing like I initially thought. Once I researched it a lot to authenticate it- I changed my code and it hasn’t returned.

      Thanks 🙂

You should send me the info you found on the iPhone passcode thing! Everything I found in the Apple forums thought it was some strange bug and said Apple couldn’t even figure it out. Ha! I must have been looking in the wrong place!

  2. Lesley says:

Remind him who’s in charge? How’s that working?

  3. Chaitali says:

The shadow box looks great! That’s funny about the popcorn. If I’m eating popcorn, Perry will always try to get some. And when we stop that, he’ll resort to trying to lick my fingers! I don’t know what it is about the popcorn that makes it attractive to cats.

  4. Mica says:

What the heck, Data? Why do you think he is so keen on escaping? I don’t remember you saying that he tried to escape all the time at your old place. Do you have to reestablish boundaries now or something?

I’m glad you enjoyed your exhausting work training! That could have been really hellish, I imagine, so the fact that you found i interesting is awesome!

    • kilax says:

I think he just wants to be outside SO BADLY. He can sense when it’s nice out. And he wants to eat grass. But yeah, we have to reset the rules. 🙂

Yes! I was so surprised that I actually liked it! I wonder now if I picked the wrong career path (JK, I know I did).

  5. Carolyn says:

I’ve gotten that message on my phone. It happened right when I stepped off an elevator into the lobby of a hotel. I had this weird feeling my phone was being hacked… I shut my phone off, and changed it without being promted when I turned it back on. Creeeeepy… 😉

And I’m with Data – Lola and I LOVE our popcorn!

    • kilax says:

Super creepy! And weird… we’ve been iPhone users for so long and neve had this issue! Why now?!

Aww, Lola is a fan, too?! <3

  6. I’ve never gotten that message on my phone. It sounds kind of sinister! I’m glad resetting the phone helped.

Data sounds like he’s got a lot of thoughts on the brain! I relate to the “spanking” too – growing up, we always just used a rolled-up newspaper to tap the cats when they misbehaved. They got more scared at the sound it made than the actual physical tap. =)

    • kilax says:

Let me know if you ever do! It totally weirded me out!

Ha! That is good that all you had to do was get it rolling to get them to behave!

  7. Shelley B says:

Data sounds like me as a teenager – sneaking out of the house at night, and living on popcorn. He’s just trying to be HIM, guys! 😉

Love that shadow box display – what a great idea for a special race.

    • kilax says:

So, so true! HA HA HA! Actually, in cat years… he is OLD! Young at heart 😉

Thanks! 🙂 I can’t wait to put it up!!! And am super eager to put up my medal racks and get those guys back out!

  8. Heather says:

The iphone timer thing would creep me out! Mine’s never done that.

It cracks me up that Data likes popcorn. One of my cats likes waffles. I guess cats are just weirdos.

    • kilax says:

Ha! Like, homemade, or the frozen kind? 🙂

      • Heather says:

I’m soooo not domestic enough for homemade, lol! He likes blueberry one but will eat apple cinnamon too. He will actively steal them from my kids. When he was a kitten I had to remind my daughter not to put her waffle down or he’d steal it; he has progressed to taking them out of my 2 year old’s hands. I thought he’d grow out of it but he’s only grown bolder.

      • Heather says:

Also, I meant to say we do something similar with our cats. We call it “bopping” and it’s a physical – but painless – reminder of dominance, or at least that’s how I think they take it. The kids aren’t allowed to do it because I don’t trust their judgment enough yet not to accidentally hurt a cat, but I will “bop” on the butt or tap a nose with my finger. I used to use spray bottles but that felt meaner…I know some people use them with great success and it might just be that my cats are playing me for a sucker but they seemed to get genuinely freaked by it…bopping they knew was me.

        • kilax says:

Ha! That is too funny about the waffles! I would have never guessed he’d want the flavored ones! With or without syrup? 😉

We’re in the same boat re: bopping rather than spraying 🙂

  9. Karen says:

    Love the shadow box!
You know cats have servants, not owners 🙂

  10. Michelle says:

Awh do you think he’s trying to run back to your old house? My dog is a “teenager” too, so I totally empathize.
