Random Thoughts Thursday 141

  • Has anyone had luck with ShoeKicker lately? I haven’t received any price alerts in a long time, and the other day I found shoes on Amazon for cheaper than listed on ShoeKicker. Hmm.
  • I was pumped for the season premiere of Game of Thrones last Thursday, then found the episode to be slow and a bit disappointing. Oh well! That is more likely to happen when something gets way too hyped up. It was fun to look forward to! And I laughed that Khaleesi slept through the entire episode in her cube then popped her head out when her namesake showed up at the end of the show. Ha ha ha!

  • It’s always funny to me on social media when something is trending (like the new episode of Game of Thrones) and people post about how they don’t care about it and are annoyed that everyone is talking about it. Well, guess what? Now you are, too. Yes, it’s annoying when everyone seems to be talking about the same thing (thing being hobby or interest), but we don’t have to be negative and say how we don’t like that thing.
  • It bums me out when I’m riding my bike and greet another cyclist and they don’t wave/nod/say hello back. It feels so unnatural to me not to acknowledge someone else (related: I ran yesterday in the city and had to hold back from saying hello to everyone).
  • Work is making me nuts and I am looking forward to a short break from it in August! (I’d love to write about all the things making me nuts, but I think that’s highly inappropriate to do in a public forum… so it stays offline.)

I liked the new episode of GoT, although I had to avert my eyes during the poopsoup scenes, GAG.

I feel the same way as you when I run and another runner doesn’t return my wave. Come on, person – we’re in this together!!!

I was wondering what you thought! Man, that montage was… icky. And odd. I think that’s the first time they’ve done a montage. And why, of that?

      EXACTLY!!!

I also liked the episode, although I know what you mean – not much really happened, but maybe it was setting things up for what’s to come (and the possibilities there are endless! I keep wondering who will align with whom?!).
And, yes, I totally agree with you regarding cyclists that don’t say hello. I mean, I get it at times, if someone is obviously working hard and super focused. Most road cyclists give a nod or flick the hand in acknowledgement. I was reading up on mountain biking etiquette (we’re not there yet, but we might try out some MTB), and every article mentions HOW friendly mountain bikers are. Maybe they want to emphasize that difference from roadies? And triathletes – don’t even get me started! 🙂

I could totally tell they were setting us up for something epic! And I actually don’t like the episodes that are 100% battle and fighting, either. So I am not sure why I found this one so ho hum. Maybe I am getting antsy!

Yeah, a nod or a hand flick is fine. A lot of times it’s the groups all wearing the same jersey speeding by and I say hi and get ignored. Is it because I am on a slow road bike?! HA!

I am NOT surprised mountain bikers are so friendly. Sounds like the world of road running vs trail running. Road runners can be nice but trail runners are your friend immediately the first time you meet them. LOL re: triathletes. “Don’t rack too close to me!”

I don’t understand the need to post that you don’t like some popular thing. I mean, good for you? Because a lot of people do like it, so there must be something good about it. But I also don’t understand a lot of what some people feel the need to post on social media.

Maybe they don’t understand why people like it but want to feel included so they post something negative about it? Idk. Like you, I don’t get a lot of what people post.
